Here is a forum for open discussion - to all who are more interested in exchange and discussion than in having their own views confirmed. Experts and other interested people meet here for intensive talks in the charming atmosphere of Schönburg Château and the surrounding park.

It is the aim of the Protestant Academy Hofgeismar to contribute to a better understanding of the present day, to a modern proclamation of the Gospel and to the solution of the tasks confronting Church and society – at its own responsibility in an open, scientifically orientated exchange of views. To this purpose the Academy is always searching for new ideas and solutions to the problems of society and the Church by means of conferences, forums and symposiums. Our events are noted on a national level; nonetheless we intend to deal with regional issues in particular. We also focus on young people with our Children’s and Pupil’s Academies, and we promote intergenerational dialogue.

The Protestant Academy Hofgeismar takes the Protestant educational mandate seriously: in this way it helps to foster communication and language skills with and between various sectors of our society. It participates in current affairs debates on politics or economics, in natural and social sciences or the humanities, on environmental and legal issues, education and the welfare state – from a Christian perspective. Thus it furthers interdisciplinary exchange.

The Protestant Academy Hofgeismar pays particular attention to phenomena and developments in arts and culture, which both represent an important seismograph of society. Arts and culture help to identify basic present-day questions. The Protestant Academy Hofgeismar wants to contribute to political decision-making. In uncertain times it also wants to provide orientation in issues of life and its meaning.
The Protestant Academy Hofgeismar funds its work from participants’ contributions, from church tax and grants from cooperating partners. To allow as many people as possible to take part in our meetings, we offer discounts for social reasons.
